At Supplemental Staffing, we take pride in our dedicated team members who strive to make a difference every day. Today, we're shining the spotlight on Erika Crull, the Branch Manager of our Michigan office, who has been with Supplemental Staffing since February 2011 (and had a birthday this month!) With over 20 years of experience in the staffing and recruiting industry, Erika's journey is a testament to the power of perseverance, adaptability, and passion for connecting people with opportunities.
Like many in the staffing world, Erika's career in the industry started unexpectedly. She began as a temporary employee, working for both large national corporations and small family-owned businesses. It was during one of these temporary assignments that she was recruited for an administrative assistant role in a small staffing firm, an opportunity that changed the trajectory of her career. "I started as a temp, and here I am 20-some years later as the branch manager for the Michigan office!" Erika shared. Her hands-on experience in multiple roles, from recruiting and sales to staffing management, has given her a well-rounded understanding of the industry and a deep appreciation for both employers and job seekers.
When it comes to helping Michigan businesses find the right talent, Erika believes in what sets Supplemental Staffing apart from the competition: personalized service. "We're not just filling jobs with warm bodies; we focus on quality placements that lead to long-term success." Unlike large national staffing chains, Supplemental Staffing takes the time to understand each employer's unique needs. The goal isn't just to place candidates but to help businesses build strong teams that grow and thrive. A testament to this approach is our long-standing partnership with an automotive company. Years ago, when the company changed vendors, Supplemental Staffing stepped in to become their primary talent provider. Today, 60% of the Michigan branch's billing comes from that client, and they continue to see positive growth from the employees placed there. While automotive is a dominant industry in Detroit, Erika and her team also recruit for food manufacturing, metal recycling, skilled trades, and more, proving that their reach extends beyond just factory production.
Erika doesn't see staffing as just filling jobs; it's about building careers.
"We don't just place people in jobs for a paycheck. We want them to grow, get hired in, and move up," she explained. One of her proudest success stories involves an employee who was homeless and living in his van when she placed him in a job. After completing his contract, he was hired full-time, later entered an electrical apprenticeship program, and is now making over $30 an hour. He recently stopped by Erika's office to share his excitement, not just about his career but also about something special: "He told me, 'I got my own apartment… and I got a dog!' That was the most exciting part for him." It's success stories like this that make Erika passionate about her work.
The Michigan branch's success is a direct result of Erika's hard work and determination. When she joined Supplemental Staffing in 2011, she was tasked with launching a brand-new office. With no existing client base, she took a sink-or-swim approach, hitting the ground running with cold calls, networking, and reconnecting with past clients. Her persistence led to success, and today, the Michigan branch is successful and serves a diverse range of industries. What started as a one-person operation has now grown into a thriving team of recruiters, sales professionals, and administrators, all working together to match great candidates with the right jobs.
Erika and her team offer more than just job placements; they provide opportunities for career growth.
Erika's goal is to help job seekers find opportunities where they can thrive, just like the individuals she placed years ago who are now operations managers at companies she continues to work with today!
With over a decade working at Supplemental Staffing, Erika is proud of the company's family-oriented culture and commitment to helping people succeed. "I love the family I work for, and I love what we do. We don't just find jobs; we help people build better futures," she said. Whether you're a business looking for top talent or a job seeker ready for your next opportunity, the Michigan team at Supplemental Staffing is ready to help!
